Is”. The Creator put all of the Sacred into “The Heart of Everything That Is”, and then he gave the responsibility to the Lakotas to

take care of it for Him. This sacred place belongs to Him, not the people

Buddhi Maya Lama, also known as Aama Bambo (Mother Shaman), was born July 16, 1943 in the remote village of Melong in the Eastern part of the Bagmati Zone, Nepal. Her father was a renowned shaman in the Nepalese Tamang tradition. Aama became a shaman despite the Tamang tradition that women are not supposed to practice shamanism. In the early days, her father restricted her in every way from practicing shamanism. However, when her father died at the age of eighty, his spirits and other gods and spirits started visiting and teaching her to be a shaman, against the prevailing cultural values of Tamang society.

She is the only woman to have ever been accepted into the highest order of shamans in Nepal – and she was even selected for a trip recently to meet with other shamans in Africa. Aama’s prayers began daily at 3:00 am until sunrise, in her walking prayer near the famous Boudhanath Temple, in Kathmandu, near her home where she then proceeded to treat around 100 patients every morning, with patients who had visited her locally from around the country, India and Tibet and renown, as far away as Canada, USA, Australia, China and Europe. She does not discriminate against those she heals, treating the poorest of the poor and the Royal Family of Nepal with equal dedication and respect.

“As you move through these changing times be easy in yourself and be easy on one other.  You are at the beginning of something new.  You are learning a new way of being.  You will find yourself working less in the yang modes that you are used to.

You will stop working so hard at getting from point A to point B the way you have in the past, but instead, will spend more time experiencing yourself in the whole, and your place in it.

Instead of travelling to a goal out there, you will voyage deeper into yourself.  You Mother’s Grandmother knew how to do this.  Your ancestors from long ago knew how to do this.  They know the power of the feminine principle and because you carry their DNA in your body, this wisdom and way of being is within you.

Call on it. Call it up.  Invite your ancestors in.  As the yang based habits and the decaying institutions on our planet begin to crumble, look up.  A breeze is stirring.  Feel the sun on your wings.”

The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmother’s represents a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for Mother Earth and all her inhabitants for the next 7 generations to come.  They believe the teachings of our ancestors will light the way through an uncertain future and are on a mission to protect their cultures, medicines, lands, language and ceremonial ways through projects that educate and nurture our children.

On September 13th and 14th, 2014, in the Black Hills of South Dakota, thousands of people converged for a UNITY CONCERT, bringing together Native American tribes with those on the right side of justice to return the guardianship of the Black Hills to the Great Sioux Nation.

It has been OPINET’s honour and a priveldge coordinating and develping this initiatve for the four years. 

To honor the circle of Life, the sacredness of all Creation and in gratitude for all that we have been given, we celebrate in music and prayer for the fourth and final year in the sacred Black Hills.  Thousands of native and non-native peoples came together in South Dakota for The Black Hills Unity Concert in 2014, 2015 and 2016.  These three extraordinary free gatherings were held in the name of cultural reconciliation and environmental restoration.

In 2017, Sept 8-10, we gather in Piedmont, South Dakota once again.  We invite you to be a part of this honorable event!  Given the political environment of today and the challenges we see in the Black Hills, this coming together promises to be like no other.  The good seeds of unity, truth and compassion have been planted in so many ways over these past four years. Now we give thanks and encourage our family to keep holding each other high.

We gather under the protection of indigenous ceremony and knowledge, to bring hope and unity among the different tribes of the Lakota, Nakota and Dakota (traditionally known as the Oceti Sakowin) and to raise voices for the return of the sacred lands of the Black Hills. Furthermore, the gatherings create a space for urgent social and environmental issues to be voiced and create invaluable alliances for the future. In addition to three days of musical celebration with top native and non-native talent, we achieve our objectives by offering speakers and workshops, space and time for elder meetings and an innovative youth program.
